Austin, TX - The Sons of the American Legion - Detachment of Texas in conjunction with the American Legion expresses their support of the Keystone XL Pipeline as a necessary and important project needed for the national security and economic development of the United States. Earlier this year at the Washington Conference in Washington, DC - the National Commander Fang Wong as well as hundreds of members of the American Legion family went to Washington DC to press our lawmakers and even the President of the United States on this vital issue.
Earlier this week, Gallup - a survey research group issued their findings on this issue and showing that 57% of the American public believe that this issue is so vitally important that the construction and progress of this pipeline should continue and help us get to a better national security and economic situation in the United States.
The state legislative chairman of the Sons of the American Legion - Detachment of Texas in responding to the survey said: "We are glad to see the American people feel that this issue is so important to our national interests that they would say overwhelmingly that they want the country to have this pipeline drilled here and now. 57% of surveyors asked on this issue is a number that we believe the President and his administration cannot ignore esspecially in an election year. This is a very important issue to the American Legion and we in the strongest terms suggest that President Obama act on this issue because doing so in the best interest of the United States both for national security and economic development reasons."
The Sons of the American Legion is a program of the American Legion whose purpose is to uphold the principles and legislative priorities of the American Legion. Our purpose is to educate our children, communities and to assist our veterans in whatever capacity they deem necessary. The Sons of the American Legion is made up of men and boys and are in every state in America. The Detachment of Texas has a membership of 6800 and serves 1.7 million veterans in the State of Texas.
