VA Ride SUCCESS

Sun, 21 Oct 2007

I want to thank everyone who went on the ride Sunday!!!

We had 18 bikes and 2 vehicles packed with T-shirts, socks, underwear and such. I think we had a total of 27 people. The lady at the VA was very pleased, and surprised, with our donation. At first she though the 3 of us that first followed her over to where we were leaving the items was all there was. You know a couple of people and about 4 small packages. BOY WAS SHE SURPRISED when she looked up and saw over 20 people lined up with bags full of stuff!!! We got plenty of pictures and when we get it all together I will let you know and we will see if we can get a CD copy to any one who wants one.

She took down each of our post #’s that participated and I left her a card. THEY WERE VERY PLEASED when she realized we were all part of the American Legion Family AND Rider’s. She took pictures of us in front of the VA hospital.

The Total ride turned out to be 152 miles, I believe for all most all of us!! MAN DID WE LOOK GOOD GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY!!! A lot of us had flags, plus we were flying the large ALR flag. Once we arrived at the VA a lot us put on our Legion hats before we went in.

THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE!!! The ALR from different groups riding together supporting our veterans and promoting the American Legion Family!!! Enhanced the pleasure of a day in the sun, and riding motorcycles with a great group of people that believe that being apart of the American Legion is an Honor and a Duty. This is what the ALR was formed for, not to be separate and act independent of the A. L. Family.

I also want to thank those of you who helped put this together!!

Buddy, you have a good group of ALR members in your area!!! I hope that we can do something like this again!!! I hope you get to feeling better.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS !!!! To our Road Captain “Captain” Ken G. and our Ride Guard’s “Brando”, “Moneyman”, and Bob.

The bad weather today, makes yesterday ride OOHHH some much better!!!
